With beautiful photographs like this one, retired teacher Arlene Bonnett will share her “Hawaiian Experience” at the Audubon Nature Photography Club meeting on Thursday, March 9.

Jamestown, NY – If you are ready for a “Hawaiian Experience,” you are invited to participate in the Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Club’s meeting on Thursday, March 9.

Featured speaker is Arlene Bonnett, a teacher who developed a passion for photography after her retirement. Constantly honing her aesthetic and technical skills, she strives to share the emotion, the story, and the beauty of her everyday life experiences.

“I love all photographic genres,” Bonnett said, “and I am always trying new ‘captures’ to continue to develop my skills as a photographer.”

In 2016 Bonnett had the opportunity to fulfill two dreams: visiting the Hawaiian Islands and attending a photography workshop by a well-known professional photographer. The workshop was conducted by Gary Hart, whose photos and writings appear in many publications. He was assisted by Don Smith, who also conducts various photo workshops.

“I was fortunate enough to visit Maui, the Big Island, and Kauai,” relates Bonnett. “Spending over three weeks on these islands allowed me to discover much of their beautiful flora and unique geological features.” She looks forward to this opportunity to share her learning experience adventure.

“Black and White” and “Ice” are the topics for the image review that opens the meeting at 6:15 p.m. Black and white is about seeing images differently, especially since we are in not a very colorful time of the year. Ice is a creative side to the winter months. Come and see how the members portrayed ice.

An illustrated presentation on better black and white photos will be in the 15-minute tech portion of the meeting.

There will also be a show and tell time when members can show off some of their best pictures.

A social time follows the program.

First-time visitors are welcome to participate free of charge. The annual membership is $30. Among the benefits of membership are discounts on photography classes, field trips, and the right to show photos at Club exhibits.

The Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Club meets at the Audubon Community Nature Center, 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown, New York, and Warren, Pennsylvania.
