Jamestown, N.Y. – Audubon Community Nature Center is seeking sponsors, demonstrators, and volunteers for its winter celebration, the Snowflake Local Living Festival, on Saturday, February 3, 2018.

This longest-running of Audubon’s festivals showcases local and sustainable living skills and product demonstrations as well as favorites like alpacas to pet, snowshoes to try, live birds of prey presentations, and horse-drawn wagon rides.

The Festival’s emphasis on sustainability means visitors can learn about and experience ways to live a bit lighter on the planet.

The Nature Center is seeking exhibitors who have sustainably produced products and who can demonstrate those production skills at the Festival. Some examples are soap-making, natural dyes, candle-making, and gardening. Space is given on a modified first-come, first-served basis with preference to organizations and vendors whose missions and products most closely compliment the Festival theme of sustainable living and the Nature Center’s mission of connecting people and nature.

More information is at auduboncnc.org/snowflakefestival.

Exhibitors, vendors, and demonstrators that are confirmed to date include Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Warren County, Royal Wind and Solar, Knitting 4 Peace – Chautauqua County Community Purls, Dun Roving Farm, Steady Plow Farm LLC, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Evergreen Outfitters, flour grinding, basket making, Wild Spirit Education live animals, Magic Moments Carriage Rides, Franklin’s Honey and Apples, Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, Boy Scouts outdoor cooking, and food provided by 3C’s Food Truck.

Volunteers, some of whom are registered with RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, will be an integral part of the 36th year of the festival. Volunteers are needed to do everything from selling snacks and operating the elevator to assisting with bluebird house building and children’s crafts.  All volunteers receive access to the hospitality room and free admission to the Festival before or after their volunteer shift.
