Schedule a Program
Audubon works with groups of all ages and sizes to organize a program that is right for you. Ranging from birthday party programs to informative lectures, browse below to see how Audubon can fit your needs.
If your school participates in BOCES Co-Ser 438.010, as many Chautauqua County schools do, your field trip may already be in the budget. Check with your principal.
Bring your class or group to Audubon Community Nature Center for a Discovery Walk. Groups of 10 or more pay $7 per person for a program led by a trail guide. Learn more about visiting ACNC and Discovery Walks.
At Your Location
An Audubon Ambassador can visit your school or location to lead a Discovery Walk near you. Please call to speak with a naturalist to work out the logistics. ACNC also offers a wide variety of indoor programs at every grade level. Learn more about Audubon visiting your location and the programs they offer.

Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is pleased to offer a variety of nature-related programs for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. In each program scouts can complete a variety of the requirements. Please call to schedule a program that fits your needs and schedule.
On Your Own
You are welcome to bring your troops, packs, and dens to ACNC during normal hours for self-guided activities. Regular admission fees apply.
Interest and Fun Patches
Many of ACNC’s events and programs include a scout patch program. Call ahead to see if a patch program is available for upcoming happenings. When you visit an event or program that offers a patch, visit the Courtesy Desk for a list of requirements. After completing at least four of the activities, a fun patch can be purchased on a first-come first-served basis for $3.
Scout patch programs are held at:
- Snowflake Festival – First Saturday in February
- Audubon After Dark – Late June
- Monarch Butterfly Festival – Last Saturday of August
- Enchanted Forest – First Friday/Saturday in October
- Birds of Prey Day – A Saturday in the fall
- Winter Lights – Several nights in late December
Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts
Audubon’s Cub Scout and Girl Scout programs give you a good solid foundation, but do not provide every experience needed to meet badge requirements. Adults are not charged for guided programs but are expected to assist with supervision and activities when necessary. Please call for more information on these programs, and to discuss other options.
ACNC does not have a public Boy Scout Merit Badge program scheduled. If your scouts are working on requirements of a nature-related badge and could use the help of an ACNC naturalist, please call to schedule a guided walk for your troop.
Overnights at Audubon
You will plan your activities for the evening. Encourage the scouts to be part of your planning process. Do you want to work on a badge, do a service project, or take a hike? It’s up to you. There is a fire pit in the backyard with split firewood that you may use. You will need your own fire starters and tinder or kindling to get it started. The multipurpose room of the Nature Center is used as a gathering place and sleeping space.
You may decide to schedule an optional Discovery Walk for an additional cost. A naturalist or trained volunteer will guide your group on a hike pointing out nature highlights along the way.
The rental fee for the overnight is $250. You are responsible for all programming.
You may add a guided Discovery Walk for an additional $70.
Groups (adult or youth)
Live Animals: Education staff or trained volunteers will introduce you to some of ACNC’s Animal Ambassadors, the amphibians and reptiles that call the Nature Center “home”. Groups of 10 or more can schedule a program at the center for $7 per person. Please call to schedule a custom live animal presentation.
Custom: If you have a different topic in mind, Audubon is happy to design a custom educational program around your nature-based needs. Please call to discuss what you have in mind.
At Your Location
Audubon’s staff and animal ambassadors are available to make special educational visits to your classroom, organization or event. Call to schedule one or more programs at your location. Pricing is negotiable depending on the arrangements.
