Jamestown, N.Y. – For more than a decade, this is the time of year Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) has presented the Plant Exchange and Sale, when you can bring your extra plants to trade for new ones or bring cash to purchase plants.
Audubon staff have put on their creativity hats and found a way to continue this tradition while maintaining social distancing.
Instead of a single event on a Saturday, any time from dawn to dusk now through Monday, June 1, when you drive into the parking area by the Nature Center building, you will find tables with plants from ACNC’s staff, volunteers, and gardens outside by the kiosk.
You can trade plants that are potted and labelled for other plants that are potted and labelled, or you can buy plants outright.
You are requested to make a minimum donation of $2 for plants you purchase and a donation of your choosing for plants you trade. This is on the honor system; donations can be put in the donation box on the kiosk.
Please do not bring any invasive plants, and if at all possible, label your plants with names.
Take this opportunity to enjoy a pleasant drive, enhance your garden, and support Audubon. You can also visit Liberty, the non-releasable Bald Eagle, in her outdoor habitat, let the kids play in the Nature Play Area, and walk the trails, all while practicing safe social distancing measures.
