See what's happening around Audubon Community Nature Center. The Joy of Mud
Kids have the incredible ability to live in the moment, and it’s an ability I would like to try to regain. There was a time when I didn’t worry about the inevitable clean up after getting muddy, or how tired I’d be the next day if I stayed up late, or the number of dishes I’d need to clean after cooking a meal. I simply enjoyed the act itself and dealt with the consequences later. And while forethought is an important tool to have, there are times when it can, and should, be turned off, and allow us to live in the moment.
A Shared Moment Under the Eclipse
The world darkened, and then bloomed back into light. It was a humbling reminder of nature’s power, of our own small place in the grand scheme of things. At Audubon Community Nature Center, we celebrate that connection, that sense of belonging to something bigger than ourselves. It’s a community built on wonder, a haven where people travel for miles to witness the awe-inspiring power of nature.

The Clean Up Crew
By Katie Finch, Senior Nature Educator There is a general agreement in my house. I cook dinner and my husband cleans up. Recently, I felt like I was doing most of the work, while he had the easy job. A switch in roles one night gave me the opportunity to reflect on...
Painting the Night with Light
The night can be a scary place of unknown sounds, but ACNC has worked hard to turn it into a playground of light to help make people comfortable in the dark. Like any good nighttime event, there is hot chocolate, snacks, a fire and entertainment at the end.
Learning from Death
By Emma Roth, Nature Educator When I go into classrooms as an Audubon Nature Educator, I get all sorts of questions from the students. They want to know what my favorite animals are, or stories from nature, and sometimes the questions are even relevant to the lesson...
